Current and Future Views at the Fesenkov Astrophysical Institute
Mercoledì 8 luglio alle ore 15:00 Yerlan Aimuratov (Fesenkov Astrophysical Institute, Kazakhstan) terrà un seminario dal titolo “Current and Future Views at the Fesenkov Astrophysical Institute”.
Abstract:
In this mainly introductory talk, we will present the Fesenkov Astrophysical Institute (Almaty, Kazakhstan) and its current activities. There are several general directions the institute is pursuing, including the development of the high-altitude observatory Assy-Turgen within the concepts of the AstroHub and Telescope Network. There are HPC and Virtual Observatory competencies. We will briefly discuss the institute’s main science directions, including a long-standing astrophysical profile (AGN, variable stars, theory) and relatively new planetary defense topics (near-miss events, monitoring, asteroid taxonomy, Space Situational Awareness (SSA), Space Domain Awareness (SDA), etc.), and a prospective project for a cislunar telescope for the scope of a Space Traffic Management (STM). Last but not least is to say about the education and outreach the researchers are involved in, with plans to transform the city observatory into an educational astronomy center promoting the initiative of the Dark Sky.
Si può partecipare di persona in ex Aula Cosmologie Antiche.
